Class 11 Chapter 14 - Mineral Nutrition

Producers such as plants, along with water, light and carbon dioxide also require, vitamins and minerals for their proper growth and functioning. These requirements are met by absorption of these minerals from the soil by the plant roots. Soil thus, plays a major role in the nutrient supply and fulfils all the needs of the plant. However, different minerals are required in different quantities. Plants also require nitrogen which is converted to nitrates for their use through nitrogen cycle. This chapter deals with the absorption mechanism, mineral requirements, nutrient toxicity and diseases due to their deficiencies. The nitrogen cycle in details is also covered.

The chapter includes:

14.1 Introduction & General Functions (Lecture Duration: 31:24)

14.2 Essential Elements (Lecture Duration: 21:59)
